Abeiku Santana, the Deputy CEO in charge of Marketing and Special Duties at the Ghana Tourism Authority, has urged hospitality workers and drivers to be more welcoming this December as part of efforts to improve customer service in Ghana.
Speaking in an interview with Giovani Caleb on Showbiz 360, Abeiku Santana appealed to people working in hotels, restaurants, bars, and drivers to show kindness and warmth to customers. He explained that good service starts with simple things like a smile. According to him, the word “tips” comes from an American saying which means “towards improved service,” and one of the easiest ways to attract and keep customers is by being friendly.
He also noted that some hospitality workers, including bartenders, waiters, and waitresses, sometimes have unfriendly facial expressions or attitudes that can make customers uncomfortable.
Abeiku Santana said this is exactly what President John Mahama referred to when he addressed the media at the Jubilee House, stressing the need for better customer service across the country.
