Afro-Gastro Festival 2025 Sparks Fresh Call for Investment in African Culinary Tourism

The vibrant Afro-Gastro Festival 2025 has come to a successful close, drawing hundreds of guests to experience the rich and diverse flavors of Africa through live cooking showcases.

This year’s festival saw participation from the High Commissions and Embassies of Morocco, Suriname, and Barbados, alongside renowned culinary groups such as Omanye Traditional Caterers and Jamrock. Together, they served a rich array of traditional dishes that highlighted the depth and diversity of African gastronomy. Key partners included the AU Development Agency and sponsors like the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Twellium Industries, GB Foods, Accra Brewery Ltd, CitiFM, Channel One TV, Golden Empire Ltd among others.

Beyond the food, the festival pulsed with energy thanks to electrifying performances by celebrated African artistes, including Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Bessa Simons, Sherifa Gunu, and Byno Ayoni. Their performances turned the event into a dynamic celebration of African creativity, culture, and cuisine.

Addressing the media, the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, called on the private sector, hospitality industry, and creative professionals to invest in Africa’s growing food culture. “Food is not just nourishment,” she emphasized, “it’s a tool for growth and unity.”

The Minister was accompanied by her deputy, Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah, and other key ministry officials. Together, they toured the festival grounds, engaged with chefs, exhibitors, and diplomats, and sampled a wide variety of dishes on display.

Looking ahead, Hon. Gomashie hinted that the 2026 edition will be even bigger, driven by the overwhelming interest from both local and international audiences.
