Abeiku Santana, Deputy CEO in charge of Marketing and Special Duties at the Ghana Tourism Authority has expressed his displeasure over comments made by some Zambian nationals concerning the attire worn by President John Dramani Mahama during his official state visit to Zambia.
During his visit, President Mahama was seen wearing a fugu, a Ghanaian traditional smock that is deeply rooted in culture and heritage of northern Ghana. While many praised the president for proudly showcasing Ghanaian culture on an international stage, others described the traditional attire as a “blouse.”
The remarks has since sparked reactions from Ghanaians on social media platforms and among those who condemn the comments was Abeiku Santana also known as Mr Tourism, who did not hide his disappointment.
Reacting in a post on Facebook, he wrote “#Zambia 🇿🇲 mocking another country’s culture only exposes your ignorance.
Please use the internet wisely to learn, appreciate, and respect Africa’s rich diversity because true development begins with knowledge, unity, and cultural pride.”
