During a community dialogue in the United States on Current Happenings in Ghana, the 2026 World Cup, Diaspora Engagement, and World Cup Business Opportunities, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts spoke openly about investment, culture, and tourism in Ghana.
She said her main focus is on finding people who have the money and the interest to invest in Ghana. She explained that anyone who has the funds, or knows people who do, can go through the US–Ghana Chamber of Commerce to reach her directly. According to her, the government is ready to make land available in a smooth and litigation-free way to support investors.
The Minister also took time to thank President H.E. John Dramani Mahama for restructuring the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts. She said this decision shows a clear understanding that Ghana’s real strength lies in its culture and creative arts. In her words, when Ghana promotes tourism, it is really promoting its culture.
She shared a personal note, saying culture is very close to her heart because it is what raised her and has provided her livelihood for over 42 years. She praised the President for giving culture the support it needs so tourism in Ghana can grow and move forward.
The Minister pointed out that many people think tourism in Ghana is only about forts and castles. She explained that after visiting these places a few times, tourists want more experiences. Her job, she said, is to create and promote activities that keep visitors engaged, especially during peak periods like December in GH.
She acknowledged that while some aspects of modern culture may not appeal to everyone, young people, especially Gen Z, love it. Using the Volta Region’s boborbor dance as an example, she said there is the traditional version she grew up dancing and a newer, more energetic style that attracts crowds today.
She concluded by saying that as the Minister, her duty is to promote tourism in all its forms. As long as an activity is decent and helps build the Ghana brand, she is ready to support and celebrate it, even if it is not her personal preference.
