Ghana could soon see a major boost in it’s event conference landscape as government intensify efforts to expand infrastructure to support entertainment, tourism and creative economy.
The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie says the lack of modern large capacity venues continue to affect the country’s ability to host major international gatherings. In an interview on Citi FM, the minister revealed that plans are in motion to develop 5,000 capacity multi-purpose facility for entertainment shows and global conferences.
“We are pushing for a 5,000 and over capacity space for entertainment and meetings. We are not able to push conferences here because we don not have the facility,” she said.
Explaining that the project aligns with government’s agenda to drive tourism revenue, create employment and strengthen Ghana’s global appeal. She also confirm an ongoing discussions with British actor and producer, Idris Elba a proposed development around the Osu castle although no agreement has been finalized.
