Caribbean to West Africa: Trinidad Plans First Direct Air Link to Ghana

Trinidad and Tobago will soon launch its first test flight between Trinidad and Ghana in 2026, giving Ghana its first direct air link to Trinidad.

This special service is being developed through a partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, one of Africa’s largest and most reliable carriers. The goal is to finally create direct flights between the Caribbean and West Africa.

This is wonderful news, and I hope this test flight becomes a permanent reality for Trinidad and Tobago and the wider region.

 It could not only help restart trade, but also support cultural exchange and business opportunities. Ghana recently strengthened its partnership with Trinidad and Tobago through a new bilateral investment agreement, and there have been discussions about future business and educational links. If plans continue to grow, Trinidad could soon become the main gateway between the Caribbean and West Africa.
