The Ghana Tourism Development Company has announced the launch of two new digital platforms aimed at strengthening domestic tourism in the country. The platforms are the Ghana Tourism Market Place and the Ghana Tourism Investment Platform.
Speaking at a media briefing, the CEO of the company, Prof. Kobby Mensah, said the new systems are designed to make tourism services more efficient and accessible. According to him, the platforms will help promote Ghana’s tourism potential, protect both visitors and service providers, and place Ghana more firmly on the global tourism stage.
Prof. Mensah explained that the company worked closely with stakeholders before developing the platforms. He said their ideas and concerns were carefully considered to ensure the systems meet the real needs of the tourism industry. After these engagements, the company moved ahead to build digital tools that can support and grow tourism across the country.
He added that the platforms will also support virtual tourism, which allows people to explore and learn about Ghana online before deciding to visit. This, he said, helps build interest and excitement about the country and encourages more people to travel to Ghana.
According to Prof. Mensah, both tourists and vendors, whether local or international, will be required to register on the platforms using their identity. This will help confirm that users are genuine and not fake accounts. It will also make it easier to reach users directly if there are any issues or emergencies.
He stressed that these platforms are an important step toward building a safer, more organized, and more attractive tourism industry in Ghana.
