Industry Stakeholders Call For Utility Charges That Make Ghana Tourism Competitive

Marlin Beach Resort owner, Mr. Albin Akansake, is optimistic about opportunities to make Ghana’s tourism sector even more vibrant by improving the affordability and competitiveness of utility services.

Speaking in an interview on JoyNews, Mr. Akansake expressed confidence that creating more manageable utility rates would benefit both industry players and the public.

He noted that making utilities more cost-effective would help hotels offer even better value to guests. “When utility charges become more manageable, it opens the door for hotels to provide more attractive room rates and enhanced services for visitors,” he said.

Mr. Akansake welcomed the government’s assurance that it plans to partner with hotels to introduce solar power systems, a move he believes will significantly reduce operational costs.

“If we receive support for solar installations, we’ll gladly pass those savings on to our customers through more affordable room rates and improved service,” he said. “Collaborating on such innovative solutions will help the entire sector grow.”

He added that he looks forward to continued engagement with policymakers, emphasizing that strong cooperation between the government and the hospitality industry will create a brighter and more competitive future for Ghana’s tourism landscape.
