Naa Ashorkor Takes a Spontaneous Road Trip to Togo, Shares Beautiful Lomé Experience

Media personality and actress Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku recently took a trip to Togo, one of Ghana’s closest neighbours, and gave her followers a glimpse of the country’s beauty and some of its tourist attractions.

In a video she shared, Naa explained that even though Togo is right next to Ghana, many of the Ghanaians she knows have never been there. So, after work one day last week, she decided to do something spontaneous. She took her car and embarked on a four-hour drive to Lomé. According to her, it felt like a crazy decision at first, but she made sure to prepare properly before setting off.

She changed some CFA francs and gathered all the necessary documents, including her passport, an international driver’s licence, a driving permit, and a laissez-passer, which she noted is something you must arrange at the border. She also made sure she had her car papers, yellow fever card, ECOWAS insurance, and an international motor vehicle certificate, all of which can be obtained from the DVLA and one’s insurance provider.

Naa described the journey as mostly smooth, with good roads along the way. Armed with good music and some snacks, she also packed kenkey and turkey because, as she put it, she loves travelling with Ghanaian food. Her route took her through Ada and parts of the Volta Region, and everything went well until she experienced a flat tyre. Thankfully, she was able to find a vulcanizer along the road who quickly came to her aid.

She used the short break to rest, admitting that a four-hour drive is quite long and that she couldn’t remember the last time she had driven for that long. Fortunately, the tyre was fixed in about 20 minutes, and she was soon back on the road.

Naa said she didn’t have many expectations for the trip, as her itinerary was mostly inspired by TikTok influencers who had previously visited Togo. After about three and a half hours on the road, she approached the Ghana–Togo border at Aflao. She mentioned that she had imagined there would be a wide stretch of land separating the two countries, but was surprised to see that it was simply the border itself, so close that one could literally walk across and be in Togo.

She also commended the immigration officers on the Ghanaian side of the border, saying she had been worried about possible chaos but experienced none. Instead, the officers were helpful and ensured that travellers crossed smoothly without any issues.

Before long, Naa arrived in Lomé. She described the city as calm and quiet, with no traffic and no chaos. One thing that immediately caught her attention was that every biker she saw was wearing a helmet. She also noted how colourful the city was, with clean streets, fruits and vegetables on display everywhere, beautiful street art on building walls, and various artworks being sold throughout the city.
