President John Mahama Breaks Ground on Bright International Amusement Park, Unveils 24-Hour Economy Vision for Ghana’s Future

On October 4, 2025, Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bright International Amusement Park in Afienya, a landmark project poised to transform the region’s economic landscape.

His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, in the company of investors and key government officials including the Hon. Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, Minister of Trade, and other CEOs of state institutions.”

In his address, President Mahama reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to a 24-hour economy, presenting the amusement park as a pivotal hub for this vision. Powered by a dedicated supply from the Bui Power Authority, the park promises to deliver stable hydropower, fostering a reliable environment for local industries. Beyond its role as a tourism magnet, the park is expected to create numerous jobs, promote inclusive employment opportunities particularly for women and drive sustainable economic growth in the Afienya area.

Speaking at the event, President Mahama highlighted the collaborative efforts behind the project: “The Bright International Amusement Park is working closely with the Ministry of Trade and Agribusiness, the Free Zones Board, and our 24-hour economy secretariat. This park will serve as a cornerstone of our 24-hour economy initiative. During my visit, I toured the new substation, which will draw electricity directly from the Bui Power Plant, ensuring a stable power supply for all industries in this enclave.”

The President also underscored the park’s role in empowering Ghana’s youth. “Many of our young people graduate from the free Senior High School programme but lack the skills needed to enter the workforce if they do not pursue higher education. Here, a one-month training program will equip them with internationally recognized skills to work in factories, both in Ghana and abroad. This initiative will provide our youth with the expertise and discipline to thrive in the global job market.”
