The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has urged Ghanaian actors and filmmakers to use their movies to promote Ghana in a positive way to the world.
She made this appeal in Kumasi on Monday as she began her tour of the Ashanti Region.
During her first stop at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), Hon. Gomashie explained that the creative industry has a strong influence on how people outside the country see Ghana.
“Whatever people watch in movies about Ghana, they believe,” she told actors and film industry members. “You are the ones who will market Ghana. Show our beautiful landscapes and tourist sites so the world can see the best of our country.”
She added that the “glass ceiling is broken,” as more creative people are now taking up leadership and political roles.
She also said that promoting the Ashanti Region is one of the ministry’s easiest tasks because Kumawood productions already help showcase the region to global audiences.
