Why IShowSpeed’s Ghana Trip Is Winning Global Attention — Abeiku Santana Explains

The Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Abeiku Santana, has shared his thoughts on IShowSpeed’s visit to Ghana and how the country’s live cultural experiences are helping to reshape global tourism.

Speaking during a Zoom interview with Noella Kharyne Yalley on JoyNews’ AM Show, Abeiku Santana highlighted the power of authenticity, youth-driven energy, and compelling storytelling in attracting international attention to Ghana.

According to him, IShowSpeed’s style of streaming thrives on freedom and spontaneity, which made it important for authorities to create the right environment for his activities. Abeiku Santana took the opportunity to commend several institutions and officials who played key roles in ensuring the smooth execution of the visit.

He praised the National Security Coordinator and his deputy for their instrumental support, as well as the Inspector-General of Police and the Director of Operations of the Ghana Police Service for deploying officers and maintaining security throughout the process.

Abeiku Santana also applauded the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority for the professionalism that ensured the smooth clearance of equipment and gadgets used by IShowSpeed’s crew. He further acknowledged the Minister for the Interior, the Controller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service, and the Ghana Tourism Authority for facilitating the necessary protocols that allowed the streamer and his team to enter the country seamlessly, including visa-on-arrival arrangements, police escort, and hotel access ahead of the main activation.

Touching on activities at the Bukom Sports Arena, he commended Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Director-General of the National Sports Authority, describing the event as a creative collaboration supported by Legacy Rise Promotion and the Office of Diaspora Affairs, led by Kofi Okyere Darko.

He concluded by recognizing the efforts of Anabel Mackenzie, Director of International Marketing at the Ghana Tourism Authority, who brought him onto the local organizing team, alongside Mr. Anane Nsia, Deputy CEO in charge of General Services. He noted that the entire process was carried out under the guidance and direction of the GTA’s CEO, Hon. Maame Efua Houadjeto.
